So the last time I popped in, I had just returned to my blog after a 6 month absence. I had no idea at the time, it would be another 6 months before I would get back into the writing routine.
This has been the craziest 18 months I’ve lived in a long time. I last neglected my journal after learning of my father’s death, followed up by the discovery of a new pregnancy. Shortly after signing on last, our family made the decision to downsize (yes, with a growing family we opted to get a smaller space) in order to save some money. Winter 2007 was very harsh on us and my husband worked only 2 or 3 weeks from mid-November to mid-January. With another baby on the way, we didn’t know what 2008 would bring so we decided to play it safe and knock almost $4oo off of our living expenses.
Apparently, I thought I was Superwoman or something. I actually thought I was going to be able to move, take care of my daughter, prepare my eldest to enter kinder, and write…all in the last few months of my 3rd pregnancy.
To complicate matters, shortly after my son was born, there were several deaths – 5 total in a 7 week period. Then there were 2 more by Christmas time. I have much to say about the last year. I am writing almost everyday now – trying to chip the rust off of my fingers.
I hope that you will find it interesting.

‘Trying to chip the rust off of my fingers’ is probably one of the most eloquent, uplifting sentences I’ve ever read on a blog. Hope the writing goes well, really looking forward to reading more.
Thank you Phil. I must say it was simply a random phrase that came to mind. I am relieved to know that it isn’t something I’ve likely read elsewhere and then borrowed.
